In addition to its superior shock immunity, the SSD drive used in the 788T-SSD enhances data transfer due to its increased transfer speed. The high-performance SSD medium in the 788T-SSD has faster read and write speeds than the 160 GB hard drive in the standard 788T. Like the standard 788T, the 788T-SSD is equipped with eight full-featured microphone inputs and twelve tracks of recording. In a stainless-steel and aluminum chassis weighing less than four pounds and roughly the size of a hard-covered novel, the 788T accommodates individual controls and connectors for each of its eight inputs, plus numerous additional I/O and data connections.

788T-specific breakout cable for the DE-15 multi-pin connector. XLR connectivity to AES inputs 1 through 8, plus XLR output for AES 5/6. A 4-pin Hirose female connector accepts 10-18 VDC input. Lead for Logic In and Out.

The CL-2 Remote Fader adds a remote level control to any 788T input with its 30mm linear fader. It can be programmed to control any input or track on the 788T. Additionally the CL-2 is designed with two programmable, two-position switches on each side of the unit making it suitable for both left- and right-handed use. The switches can be programmed to operate functions on the 788T such as recording start and stop. The CL-2 is powered by the C.Link port on the 788T recorders and firmware revision 1.75 or higher is required for operation.
The CL-8 is a powerful mixing control surface for the Sound Devices 788T recorder. Its large rotary faders and push buttons bring extensive mixer-type control to 788T inputs. The lightweight CL-8 can be used either mounted on or remote from the 788T.
The CL-8 features eight large, rotary faders to control levels of input-to-master-track (L, R) and input-to-aux-track levels (post-fade). With its tactile buttons, control over each input’s high-pass filter, limiter, polarity, mute status, and routing is quick with visual indication on the CL-8 front panel. The CL-8 provides shortcuts to route inputs to the left/right mix tracks and Aux1 and Aux2 tracks.
The CL-8 firmware adds additional record tracks to the 788T. These new tracks can be monitored in headphones, recorded, and routed to 788T outputs.
