MK 2 H |
FEATURES:
By its appearance alone, the MK 2 H/CCM 2 H distinguishes itself from the other pressure transducers: the typical grill is absent, and the sound inlet (with a gold-plated ring surround) is smaller than that of the other capsules. These special design features lead to a frequency response that rises only above 10 kHz, to compensate for high-frequency losses encountered with mid-field placement. This capsule would be used in the near field only if a slight high-frequency emphasis were desired, as with the MK 2 S/CCM 2 S, although the high-frequency emphasis of the MK 2 H/CCM 2 H is audibly less pronounced and begins around an octave higher. The primary application for this capsule is moderately close to the sound source, e.g., approaching the reverberation radius, when recording a large orchestra. The MK 2 H/CCM 2 H is particularly suited to the recording of classical music, where it has gained wide acceptance. The choice between the MK 2 H/CCM 2 H and the equally well-liked MK 2 S/CCM 2 S is essentially a matter of personal preference. MK 2 H |
