This adapter cable is a counterpart to the KCY of the portable miniature microphone system (the single cable which provides both power and signal leads for two microphone capsules). The AKI/2C separates the two channels to allow connection to a pair of CMC amplifiers, rather than to a VST 62 IU or a VMS 5 U. This also allows the CUT filter and certain other accessories to be used; it also allows a stereo arrangement on a microphone boom using only a single cable, again with the additional option of using the CUT filters.
Even though the combination of KCY with the VST 62 IU or the VMS 5 U would be less costly, the AKI/2C is still of special interest where CMC amplifiers are already on hand.
